Latvia Digital Nomad Visa: How To Apply?

The Latvian government has recently announced Latvia Digital Nomad visa targeted toward the digital nomad community. The visa will allow digital nomads to stay or settle for a certain period of time in Latvia. Latvia Digital Nomad visa enables holders to retain their current employment based in another country whilst legally residing in Latvia. The  Nomad visa is open to individuals who can work remotely and independent of location, using telecommunications technologies.  Latvia Digital Nomad visa visa can be granted for a period of up to one year and renewable for one more year. After two years of stay in Latvia, internationals would be eligible to change their status to a temporary residence permit, if permitted.

What are the requirements?

In order to apply, you need to submit the following documents:

  • Copy of passport and two passport photos

  • Proof of employment or self-employment (contracts/pay stubs/tax returns/etc.)

  • Proof that the applicant made 2.5 times the average monthly salary (€2.857.50) during the six months before applying

  • Certificate from tax authorities that the individual is self-employed

  • Proof of accommodation in Latvia

  • Justification documents, which include an overview of why the applicant wants to stay in Latvia

Who Can Apply For The Latvian Nomad Visa?

If you are a national of any of the EU country, you can apply for the Latvia digital nomad visa. The visa is also applicable to digital nomads whose home country is a non-EU country but is still part of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, including the US, Australia, Canada, the UK, Turkey, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, and Israel.This application is open to people who are citizens of OECD countries. Current laws also state that you can apply if you have a business registered in an OECD country or if you work for a company registered in an OECD country
